Looking For Me

It’s a long, long, road that I wander,
An infinite number of miles,
The days only seem to grow longer,
With an infinite number of trials.

These old boots I have worn through the sole,
From a lifetime of looking for me,
This long, rocky road has taken its toll,
And I still don’t know where it will lead

Every mountain range leads to another,
Every road seems to end in a lie,
Just when I think I have got there,
Another fork in the road makes me cry.

Yes, it’s a long, long, road that I wander,
An infinite number of miles,
The days just seem to grow longer,
With an infinite number of trials.

It’s my unfortunate lot I have squandered,
Every chance I have had to be free,
All my life I have been soul-plundered,
No love in this life for me.

The road that I wander is dusty,
Twisted and cracked and curved,
The sign posts have long since rusted,
And lead nowhere as I have observed.

Yes, it’s a long, long, road that I wander,
An infinite number of miles,
The days only seem to grow longer,
With an infinite number of trials.
