Susanna X

Aida was the one all along, Susanna.
Yes, Tomás.
She has given me the half of my heart I buried with you.
Yes, Tomás. I knew love would come to you again.
I grieved so long for you, Susanna.
Yes, Tomás. Too long.
Aida makes me feel like you and I are together again.
I know, Tomás.
I can’t bring you back, Susanna, so I must go on living for both of us.
Yes, Tomás. But, now you must forget me.
No, Susanna. I won’t forget you.
You must forget me if you want to love Aida.
No, Susanna. I can love you both.
How can you love us both, Tomás?
I can love you both because I am not choosing between you.
Because I am dead, Tomás?
No, my dearest love. Because I no longer grieve for you.
I’m so glad, Tomás. Now your heart may live again.
My heart may live again because I love again.
What else, Tomás?
Because Aida loves me the way you loved me, Susanna.
How did I love you, Tomás?
You loved me to the depth of my soul with no expectation of anything in return. You were my companion, and whose comforting presence was like the womb that surrounds the unborn child: protective, warm, loving.
Oh, Tomás, but that is why I loved you.
Will you always be with me Susanna?
Always and forever, Tomás. True love never dies.
I love you, Susanna.
I love you, Tomás.

I’m glad you like it. I needed a way to express the depth of their love. There really is no better way than comparing it to the love that exists in pregnancy. Everything I have ever heard or learned of pregnancy seems to indicate the presence of a powerful love. I hope I got it right.
